I Believe…I Can Run A 100 Mile Race Without Training – Part 2: Results

WARNING: The intent of this writing is not to be arrogant or boastful. I do not see myself as any different than anyone else. No better or worse, especially on the subject of running. All I aim to do is present my ideas, experiments and results on running in a semi scientific form in order to share and potentially convince anyone that they can do the same, which in this case, happens to be running a 100 mile race with little to NO TRAINING. There is little research on this subject that I can find, and the running industry will certainly not agree nor want to agree with these ideas because they do not sell anything. No training plans or special strength exercises found in magazines and books are needed, no time equipment, tempo runs, gels, no shoes even. No fear is used so you go buy something to ease those fears. There are, however, potentially thousands of variables that are not listed here and I KNOW THAT. I know people are born with some genetic differences as well as form different ones throughout their life, too. But I also think that we are capable of doing much more than most think. Part 10: The Short Race Report

What I Learned
The following months consisted of me slowly running further per day, getting in near 4-6 miles before work in May. But I was being careful. One day I went on a run on the beach, and I felt that little pain, yet I continued on until it hurt enough for me to stop. The next day it was fine. It seemed that any time I got that pain, I’d be done for the day, and the following day I would be fine. Go figure. I wanted to run in the races again, so I’d start small. 5k time. Continue reading

Part 5: Putting On My New Feet

I almost couldn’t stand the wait any longer. After not running for two weeks following the marathon, call it an off season, it was time to lace up my new no lace shoes and get out there.
